My Modalities: ACT, EFT, and Parts Work |Online Therapy BC
My practice is built on the belief that effective therapy requires both compassion and evidence. I don't use a "one-size-fits-all" method; instead, I draw from therapeutic approaches that are proven to address the root causes of anxiety, disconnection, and overwhelm.
My work is primarily grounded in a Relational Framework, meaning our relationship is the vehicle for change. I integrate three core modalities to support your healing journey:
What is it? ACT is a form of therapy that focuses on psychological flexibility. It helps you change your relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings, rather than trying to eliminate them.
How it helps you:
Unstick from Overthinking: You’ll learn how to "unhook" from anxious or critical thoughts, recognizing them as just words, not absolute truths.
Clarify Your Values: We identify your core values (e.g., connection, creativity, peace) to create a compass that guides your actions, even when anxiety is present.
Mindfulness & Presence: Develop skills to be more present in your life and less dominated by worries about the past or future.
What is it? EFT is rooted in attachment science. It explores how your fundamental human need for safe connection influences your emotional life, your self-view, and your relationships with others.
How it helps you:
Heal Relational Wounds: We examine the emotional patterns (or "cycles") that keep you feeling disconnected, misunderstood, or defensive in your most important relationships.
Deepen Self-Compassion: You gain a deeper understanding of why you react the way you do, moving you away from self-blame and toward kindness.
Clearer Communication: You learn to identify and communicate your emotional needs clearly, which is essential for building authentic connection and reducing anxiety in relationships.
What is it? Parts Work views the mind as having many "parts" (the anxious part, the critic part, the people-pleasing part). None of these parts are bad; they are all trying to protect you.
How it helps you:
Resolve Internal Conflict: We compassionately explore the parts of you that are stuck in survival modes, like the part that relentlessly criticizes or the part that avoids rest.
Reduce Shame: You learn to access your "Self" (a core state of calm, curiosity, and confidence) so you can lead your internal system with compassion rather than being dictated by your worried or critical parts.
Integrate Your Identity: This is particularly helpful for neurodivergent individuals, helping integrate parts that have been forced to "mask" or hide.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT):
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
Parts Work/Internal Family Systems (IFS)
